Yarn About Disability community forum on the 26th July from 11am-1pm.
We invite all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and families living with disability for lunch and a yarn at the Port Augusta Yacht Club. Here, community members will be able to yarn about their experience living with disability and provide this feedback to the Disability Royal Commission so that change can begin to happen in the areas it needs to. All information on the day will be completely de-identified and anonymous, unless otherwise requested. There is also space to yarn one-on-one if that is more comfortable for people—please let me know ASAP if there is anyone who would like to do this and we can book in a time.
Topics talked about can include disability and health, disability and justice, disability and the NDIS or other agencies, or disability and any other area that a person would like to share their feedback/experiences on.
The recommendations made by the royal commission will affect change in many areas across Government, disability services, and legislation, so it is imperative that Aboriginal voices are heard across Australia.
PLEASE NOTE: If there are any non-Aboriginal clients who would like to provide feedback to the Disability Royal Commission and would like support in doing so, please let me know as we can arrange for support in this too. Submissions for feedback to the Commission close on 31st December 20
