Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation (KAC) 2021 Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on 9th April at West Augusta Football club with over 200 people including a heap of kids coming along to enjoy the children’s activities. Followed on Sunday 10th April; just as many people attended for the rest of the Annual General Meeting followed by the Common Law Holders.
COVID has created many challenges for people, and unfortunately, the KAC Corporation has been impacted by COVID resulting in delays to 2021 AGM. For the KAC Board, concerns for the community lead to the decision of delivering a hybrid model to reduce the possible impacts of COVID on the Community.
The new way of conducting a meeting caused some challenges, however, for the small number of people who were unwell, close contacts or unable to travel long distances they were able to join in. The Adelaide Hub hosted a small group together remotely joining in the conversation at Port Augusta.
The KAC Board joined in with the members, with Directors in Port Augusta, Adelaide and online. Elaine Moosha as a spokesperson for the Board, open the meetings requesting a chairperson nominated by the members. On Saturday Roger Thomas was nominated as chair to open the AGM, providing members with the opportunity to discuss matters of interest with the meeting to be continued the next day. On Sunday, Elaine Kite was nominated and chaired the meeting ensuring all the matters on the agenda were addressed closing the AGM followed by the Common Law Holder meeting.
Certainly, a very busy weekend for all members. And the kids were also kept super busy with lots of activities provided over the two days. During the weekend Wulla Designs did kids’ craft and painting activities with the Inflatable Slide open all weekend, from all reports definitely wearing the kids out.
In addition, a special thanks to those who donated their time to hang out with the kids including 3 on 3 basketball, other games and activities
