The Premier of South Australia has announced authorization for Kelaray Pty Ltd for exploration on Lake Torrens under section 23 of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1988 (SA). Community members have expressed their concern to KAC Heritage Service Manager as the area is culturally significant for Kokatha People and therefore should be protected. In relation to Kelaray Pty Ltd application for exploration on Lake Torrens under section 23 of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1988 (SA) Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC made representation in opposing the approval. The authorisation is disappointing and over the next few weeks Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC will facilitate community consultation to discuss future action.
