Board Update: Release of Independent Evaluation Report on Kokatha Heritage Damage Claims

On 15th February a special purpose meeting of the KAC Culture and Heritage Committee (CHC) took place to provide the Board with their views on the Independent evaluation report they commissioned to investigate disturbing and distressing claims made by Kokatha men Andrew and Robert Starkey to the Juukan Gorge Senate enquiry. Their Submission was listed publicly as Submission 42 (S42).

At this meeting, the CHC voted to request the Board provide all KAC members with information from this report prior to the next AGM.

At a special purpose meeting convened by KAC Directors on 22 February, the Board accepted this CHC recommendation and agreed to release the S42 claims Independent evaluation report onto this website for the information of Kokatha Common Law Holders.

Please note it contains culturally sensitive information, including photographs. A summary of the findings can be found on pages 8, 39-43 and 83. You can view and download the document here.
