Business Information

The Kokatha People are the Traditional Owners of a large section of the land in the north of South Australia. This includes the land surrounding BHP Billiton’s Olympic Dam Mine Project located at Roxby Downs, and areas around OZ Minerals Carrapateena project and Australian Defence Force Woomera facility.

In recent years, Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation has matched these opportunities with rapid growth as an organisation. Opportunities within the resources sector have been a significant factor in this growth, which has seen significant activity take place on Kokatha traditionally owned lands. There are currently two major mining operations which interact with KAC:
·  BHP’s Olympic Dam mine and township of Roxby Downs
·  OZ Minerals Carrapateena mine

Both BHP and OZ Minerals currently have agreements with KAC under the Native Title Act

Harnessing the economic potential of the resources industry on Kokatha Land is just one way in which Kokatha is strategically planning it’s future. Currently Kokatha has business collaborations with many external stakeholders in place, working with us to improve the lives of Kokatha people.

The abundance of existing and future market opportunities on Kokatha land, a strong understanding and commitment to Lore and Culture matters, a collective vision for the organisation and an recently experienced and energised corporate staff ensures that existing arrangements will continue to flourish and new opportunities will continue to evolve.

Building, strengthening, thriving and working towards a future when KAC generates enough economically and culturally sustainable opportunities to enable our aspirations to become reality
