KAC would like to welcome John Ramsay to the team! John comes to KAC with an abundance of experience working within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities but also with Governance and Management expertise. He has been engaged on a short term casual contract as a Principal Advisor and will work closely with the CEO to address some current priority issues initially focusing on a review of budgeting processes, tender administration for accounting services, corporate structure review and status of BHP ODA and ILUA agreements.
John is a former senior Army Officer with specialisations in administration, logistic and information management. For the last 13 years John has been working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities on the Tiwi Islands and throughout the Torres Strait.
John was the Government Business Manager on Bathurst Island, assisting the Wurangkuwu and Wurrangkau communities with the implementation of the government ‘Closing the Gap’ measures.
John has acted as the Chief Executive Officer of the Torres Strait Regional Authority (TSRA) and over the past ten years held a range of appointments including Programme Manager for Native Title, Fisheries, Culture Art and Heritage, and Governance and Leadership with the TSRA.
John is member of the Governance Institute of Australia and holds an Executive Master of Public Administration, a Master of Instructional Systems Design and a Graduate Diploma in Information Systems.
