Are you a current Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation heritage worker, or would you like to find out about doing heritage work with us in the future?

We’re holding a KAC heritage information session on Thursday 12 November in Port Augusta.

The info session will start at 11am with sign ins from 10.30am and there will be a sausage sizzle and refreshments served after the meeting.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide an update about heritage business at KAC, and future plans for the team.

Current KAC heritage workers are invited to attend, as well as anyone interested in joining the KAC Heritage Team, or Kokatha community members who just want to find out more about the heritage work we do.

If you’re interested in attending please email heritage@kokatha.com.au so we know numbers for catering.

Travel Assistance will NOT be provided to attend the meeting. However, if you do want to hear what’s being said, but can’t make it in person, please contact the above email address and we’ll send you a link to attend online.

Please note that people will NOT be paid for coming to the meeting, as it’s for information sharing only.

Do you want to make a difference on Country?

Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation (KAC) is looking for Rangers to join the Kokatha Ranger Program and help care for Kokatha Country.

Based at Roxby Downs Station, this is a hands-on, outdoor role for people who enjoy working on Country, protecting the environment and being part of a team.

What you’ll be doing:

Caring for Country and supporting cultural activities

Monitoring threatened species

Weed and fire management

Station work, fencing, cattle monitoring and maintaining watering points

Working alongside Rangers, Elders, Traditional Owners and cultural advisors

Working with partner organisations and taking part in training and development

About you

You enjoy practical outdoor work, work well in a team and are willing to travel to remote locations, including camping when required. A current driver’s licence is essential. Experience in land management, driving 4WDs, local flora and fauna or field data collection will be an advantage.

This is an incredible opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that supports Kokatha People and the ongoing care of Country.

The role will support our Heritage Operations team with:

Heritage project administration and record keeping

Travel and logistics coordination

Stakeholder, consultant and contractor support

Reporting, compliance and procurement

Invoicing, purchase orders and expenditure tracking

Improving systems and processes

We’re keen to hear from candidates with strong administration or project coordination skills, excellent communication and organisation, attention to detail and the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Experience in heritage, native title, cultural services, mining, community or Aboriginal organisations is desirable, but not essential.

Traffic management qualifications

We’re looking for people who have practical experience and knowledge across areas such as excavation and trenching, levels and grades, GPS machine control, earthmoving and material placement, road construction, drainage and pipe installation, basic surveying and levelling, and working safely around underground services.

Positions are also available for site supervisors and leading hands.

A strong understanding of site safety, SWMS/JSA, exclusion zones, pre-start inspections, environmental controls and hazard reporting is also important.

If you have several years of practical plant operation experience, can work safely and accurately, and have the skills to work both independently and as part of a team, please get in touch!
