The Department for Energy and Mining have a process to develop and finalise the regulations required for the Statutes Amendment (Mineral Resources) Bill 2019 (Mining Regulations, Opal Mining Regulations and Mines and Works Inspection Regulations)

 Covid-19 has resulted in the department changing the way is engages with stakeholders prior to the commencement of the Mining Acts on 1 January 2021.

In coming weeks the department will engage with external groups and stakeholders through digital engagement whilst raising awareness through a variety of means including press, radio and internet. 

In August 2020, draft regulations in three thematic packages will be released for review with 4 weeks being allowed for each package for feedback.

The CAG will be briefed on this matter by Dept of Energy and Mining at their July monthly meeting prior to a KAC submission.
