The Kokatha Education Scholarship is now open for applications.
There will be 2 rounds every year with the first round closing on 4 March 2022
The VISION of this program is to provide education outcomes that may not otherwise exist for Kokatha people.
The program is categorised in priority areas with University and Vocational Education being the first priority.
BACKGROUND
As part of the Native Title Mining Agreement (NTMA) negotiated with OZ Minerals and KAC , OZ minerals have contributed money to support a scholarship program for Kokatha People. Last year the policy was approved by Common Law Holders and subsequently KAC and Oz Minerals agreed guidelines for the distribution of funds.
A Selection Committee has been developed and is made up of FOUR Kokatha people and TWO OZ Minerals representatives. The Kokatha committee members were nominated by the board and are members of the KAC/OZ Partnering Management Committee (PMC).
DECISION PROCESS
All applications will be de-identified prior to review by the Selection Committee unless the applicant is a member of the Selection Committee, in which case they will register their conflict of interest and withdraw from appraisal of that application.
The Education Scholarship Selection Committee must approve applications by consensus in the absence of a simple majority.
