First Nations Regional Podcast Workshop

The SAFC has partnered with Country Arts SA and the Riverland Youth Theatre to deliver a regional podcasting workshop for South Australian First Nations key creatives.

The “Podcasting for Beginners” workshop will invite South Australian First Nations storytellers to respond to the NAIDOC 2021 theme Heal Country! by learning the skills to produce a polished, stand-alone podcast episode.

The workshop will be delivered by experienced First Nations mentor Raymond Zada and supported by Christine Brown and will be held at the Riverland Youth Theatre in Renmark, South Australia.

Each participant will be mentored from start to finish to create a high quality 15-minute podcast episode in a non-scripted format.

After the workshop the 10 x 15 minute podcast series will go to air on a chosen local or national radio platform TBC and Country Arts SA’s new online platform Venue 6.

Each successful applicant will be provided their polished podcast episode for their keeping.

The objective of the workshop is to increase digital storytelling skills among regional and remote First Nations communities in South Australia.

What is on offer?

Up to 10 places will be available for First Nations storytellers from regional and/or remote South Australia.

The workshop will be delivered in two phases and will cover topics including:

  • Basic audio recording (on a Smartphone)
  • Editing skills (using Audacity)
  • Interview techniques
