    FUNERAL APPLICATION INFORMATION

    The trustee for the Kokatha Charitable Trust is Kokatha Holdings Pty Ltd ("the Trustee').
    The Kokatha Charitable Trust distributes a percentage of funds earned by the Kokatha People Native Title Compensation Charitable Trust. The Kokatha Charitable Trust exists to meet the charitable needs of Kokatha individuals and families.

    All Kokatha people are eligible to make application for assistance with Funerals or related expenses as detailed on the following page.

    Applications will not be approved if alternative avenues are available, including other Trusts and Government grants.

    Useful Hints:
    Please nominate a Family Representative for all enquires and communication regarding this application.
    Ensure you have a complete application.
    Ensure you have a full and complete quote by an approved provider/supplier. The quote or invoice should be issued in your name NOT in the name of Kokatha Charitable Trust.

    Note:
    Once an application is lodged with the Kokatha office there is no capacity to alter or make changes to your application. All applicants will be notified by phone or email once the application has been considered.

    Once approved the processing and payment of applications will be done as soon as possible.

    Note:
    Funds will not be provided to replace any government benefit or funding program. Cash payments and reimbursements to applicants will not be made.

  • Funerals

    The aim of this program is to provide assistance with Funeral related expenses for a deceased Kokatha person.
    Assistance can be applied for the cost of the funeral service itself, or the costs of flowers, catering and clothing.
    No assistance will be provided for Travel costs.

  • Funeral Service

    Funding to a maximum of $10,000 (including GST) for

    Funeral Home Expenses
    Casket
    Burial or Cremation Costs
    Casket Wreath

    OR

  • Funeral Expenses

    Funding to a maximum of $2,500 (including GST) for

    Food for the Wake
    Flowers
    Clothing for Pall Bearers

    OR

  • Headstone

    Funding to a maximum of $5,000 (including GST) for

    Headstone for a Kokatha family members grave

    Note:
    If applying for funeral assistance, a separate application can be submitted at a later date for a headstone

  • Decisions

    This document shall be used as a guide by the Trustee in relation to distribution from the Trust. The Trustee decision in relation to any distribution from the Trust shall be at the absolute discretion of the Trustee. The Trustee has no obligation to provide any reasons for any decision it makes in relation to distribution but at all times will endeavour to act in a sensitive manner within the confines of its legal obligations to administer the Trust appropriately.
