The Project

CPB Contractors has been selected by the South Australian Government to deliver three important projects under the Port Wakefield to Port Augusta (PW2PA) Alliance.

Your Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a Community Engagement Officer to join the Community and Stakeholder Engagement Team. This is a full-time role based in Port Augusta.

We are looking for someone that is passionate about engaging with the community and key stakeholders and keeping them informed while projecting a strong and positive image of the Joy Baluch Bridge AM Duplication Project and the PW2PA Alliance more broadly.

As a Community Engagement Officer, you will be accountable for:

  • Developing and implementing a regular program of stakeholder contacts/liaison meetings to build trust, honesty and reliability of the PW2PA Alliance
  • Preparing community work notifications and other project communication materials
  • Organising internal and external approvals for project communication materials
  • Maintaining a community stakeholder database of contacts (Consultation Manager) and preparing a monthly report on all activities and stakeholder interactions.
  • Responding to project enquiries from members of the public and other stakeholders
  • Actively engage with local residents, businesses and Aboriginal communities to ensure our approach reflects the values of inclusion and diversity to deliver best for project outcomes.
  • Assisting to plan and coordinate local community events
  • Attending a range of project meetings to ensure that community issues are raised and addressed in a timely manner
  • Providing administrative support at community and stakeholder meetings and forums as required
  • Coordinating and undertaking relationship-building activities with key internal stakeholders to ensure clear, consistent and timely information across the project
  • Ensuring activities are delivered to plan, within agreed timeframes, quality and budget

Our minimum requirements for this role are:

  • Qualifications and/or demonstrated experience (3 years+) in a community engagement, communications or community development role or related discipline (desirable)
  • IAP2 Certificate in Engagement (preferable)
  • Experience working on infrastructure projects an advantage
  • Knowledge of and experience working with Aboriginal communities an advantage
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a range of different people and stakeholders
  • Be prepared and available to respond to 24/7 project enquiries as required, including afterhours phone calls
  • Excellent administrative and computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Sound organisational skills and the ability to manage concurrent activities
  • Accuracy and a good eye for detail
  • A team player
  • Some regional travel will be required and a driver’s licence is essential.

Ideally, we are looking for a person who lives in the region, or is willing to relocate, and has a good understanding of the Port Augusta and surrounding communities. The successful individual will promote community involvement and manage stakeholder issues in accordance with the Community Engagement and Media Management Plan.
