In December 2019 at the AGM, Kokatha Common Law Holders voted against the transfer of Compensation Trust Interest to the Kokatha Charitable Trust (KCT). This is an annual resolution that provides the KCT with funds to distribute directly to Kokatha people. The purposes of this have included Health Expenses, Funeral Costs, Back to School support, Cultural Activity assistance and Wellbeing (White Goods) Funding. As a result there are minimal funds available (from other sources). These have been allocated by the Trustee to the areas of health, funeral and cultural activity only.
At this stage there are no funds allocated for Back to School Support or a Wellbeing Round (white goods)
Kokatha Common Law Holders will have the opportunity to revisit this decision at the next community meeting (tentatively planned for Sept 2020)
If further funds become available the Trustee will review the current budget and criteria.
