Kym Chamberlain – Community support
Background: Kokatha and Antakirinja
With a strong background in Community work we are delighted that Kym has joined the team at KAC. She previously worked at the Port Augusta Youth Centre in youth work and management, as an Aboriginal Justice Officer at the Courts Admin and also time working at the Aboriginal Women’s Centre. Kym combines her employment experience in the field with a strong personal passion as an Aboriginal woman to work within the community to improve the lives of Kokatha and all Aboriginal people.
The role of Community Support includes:
- Community liaison to discover areas of community need and to network to work on creating solutions
- To support Employment and Training Advisor to ensure community awareness of opportunities as they arise
For someone who “likes helping our people”, Kym’s focus over the next year is to become really creative about community ideas and as a result create options to support people. She is highlighting the lack of support for vulnerable members of the community that currently exists and would love to see services created in community to support our people.
