KAC REIGNITES STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS
In a significant step forward, the Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation (KAC) Board of Directors has re-started the process of developing a strategic plan for our corporation, providing an important roadmap to guide our direction over the next decade.

A strong strategic plan is essential to ensure KAC remains focused on delivering outcomes that reflect the aspirations of our Elders, members, and community.

To kick start the process, the KAC Board has met with Yamagigu Consulting, the largest First Nations consulting business in Australia.

A Wiradyuri word, ‘yamagigu’ means ‘our purpose is to go with you’, reflecting their spirit of partnership and shared journey.

Yamagigu was selected after a competitive tender process, and as an Aboriginal-owned, Adelaide-based company, they have picked up where the strategic planning process left off last year.

At the initial meeting, KAC Directors began by identifying key themes and establishing core pillars around our guiding motto; One People. One Country. One Dreaming.

KAC Chairperson Nyani Thomas says developing a strategic plan is crucial to ensure the long-term success of the corporation.

‘This process allows us to map out our priorities, measure our progress, and make sure we’re building a sustainable future for the next generation,’ he says.

As part of the planning process, Yamagigu will also be meeting with:
• Community members in Adelaide and Port Augusta
• The KAC Culture and Heritage Committee
• KAC staff
• Directors from Kokatha Enterprise and Kokatha Pastoral

‘This is about listening to Kokatha people and making sure their voices are at the heart of our long-term vision,’ says Nyani. ‘We encourage everyone to take part in the upcoming community meetings and share their ideas for the future of the Corporation.’

The Directors’ goal is to ensure that by the end of this year, KAC has a clear, community-driven strategic plan that sets out key objectives for the next 1–3 years, 3–5 years, and beyond.

‘The work we do now, as a Board, a corporation and as a community, will ensure that every future step we take is underpinned by the hopes and goals of the Kokatha people,’ says Nyani.
