KAC PROUDLY SUPPORTS KIDS' SOCCER IN PORT AUGUSTA
Kokatha woman Tonya Wilton, a mum of six, noticed there were no sporting options for her younger kids, so she took the initiative and created one.
Thanks to Tonya’s hard work and Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation (KAC) sponsorship, the new Under 9s soccer club has kicked off with huge success.
More than 31 kids aged between four and nine years old signed up, which was enough to make up four teams.
Tonya approached KAC for support, and we were pleased to help by funding new goals and soccer balls.
The kids had their first game last Sunday and gave it their all on the field. They’ll keep playing through to February.
While this is still a trial program, Tonya is hoping that with such strong interest from the community, it will become a regular fixture in Port Augusta.
Tonya said she was blown away by how many families got involved and how much the kids loved playing.
