Kokatha Mining Services Pty Ltd (KMS) and Kokatha Pastoral Pty Ltd (KP) are 100% owned subsidiaries of Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (under special administration) (KAC). They both operate on Kokatha country and provide opportunity for direct Kokatha engagement in sustainable business operations, enterprise development and Aboriginal employment, career development and training. As Kokatha businesses, recognising and maintaining connection to culture, heritage and country is especially important.
As part of the governance reform of the KAC special administration, new boards of directors will be created for KMS and KP. The boards will each have a majority of Kokatha directors plus one independent director. The role of the Kokatha directors is to oversee the business plan and ensure correct corporate governance of the company while representing Kokatha interest on cultural and country matters.
You are invited to submit an application for consideration as a Kokatha director of one of these businesses. Kokatha directors must:
- Be a Kokatha person
- Work as a team for the benefit of the company (KMS or KP) and for KAC
- Understand and demonstrate board principals of fairness, honesty and equity
- Have some business skills and knowledge (for board discussion and decision-making)
It is anticipated that the new boards will meet in Port Augusta every three months and that board meetings will be for around half a day. Board members receive modest sitting fees, plus travel and accommodation expenses.
