The Kokatha People are the Traditional Owners of a large section of land in the north of South Australia. This area stretches from Lake Torrens in the East to the Gawler Ranges in the West. The Kokatha Traditional Owners’ Native Title area encompasses significant mineral deposits which are subject to current mining operations and future potential mining activities. The Native Title area also includes the townships of Woomera, Roxby Downs and Andamooka which are major service centres for this part of regional South Australia. 

Reporting to the ACS Camp Manager, this part-time (2-3 days/week) 8-10 month contract position is responsible for driving a refrigerated truck (MR) ensuring the delivery of supplies from Port Augusta and Whyalla to the Exact camp located at Mt Gunson.

Your key activities include:

  • Carry out daily Pre-Start- Checks for the courier truck
  • Attend Pre-Start meetings as required.
  • Review orders before and after delivery
  • Load, transport, and deliver items in a safe and timely manner.
  • Ensure food items are transported in accordance with food handling requirements under the Food Transportation Guidelines SA.
  • Adhere to assigned routes and follow time schedules.
  • Prepare reports and other documents as needed.
  • Operate machines safely.
  • Use safe manual handling techniques and utilise provided personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure the safety of the loads.
  • Adhere to assigned routes and follow time schedules.
  • Abide by all transportation laws and maintain a safe driving record.

You will need:

  • MR Licence (Essential)
  • HR Licence (Preferred)
  • High Risk Forklift ticket (Essential)
  • Truck driving experience including experience in securing loads
  • Basic math skills and legible handwriting
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to develop sounds relationships with customers and contractors
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Be well presented and have a reasonable level of physical fitness with the ability to walk, drive, and lift heavy items
  • Experience in working in remote areas and living away from home

Appointment to this position will be subject to a National Criminal History Record Check clearance. Two reference checks will be required including one recent supervisor.
