In a significant infrastructure milestone for Kokatha Pastoral (KP), Roxby Downs Station will soon be supplied with mains water from the River Murray to Woomera pipeline.
The announcement comes after months of negotiations between KP and Defence, and will see 42 kilometres of pipeline laid along station tracks and fence lines.
Currently Roxby Downs Station’s water is sourced from dams on the property, however the quality and availability of water fluctuates depending on rainfall.
Access to mains water will mean KP staff have year round potable water on tap, and there will be more availability of dam water for stock.
Mains water will also enable KP to revegetate parts of the property and explore new projects like seed raising and propagation.
Kokatha Heritage crews have been working to clear the designated route of the pipeline, ahead of the installation of two water holding tanks later this month.
KP staff will also undertake a poly welding course in late February in preparation for the pipeline to be laid.
The project is scheduled for completion in early April.

Tim and Paul Strangways completed site clearances for the new pipeline.

Pipe will be laid on an existing track from range head E to Purple Downs boundary.
