It’s been fantastic to see the Miru Woodcarving Project come to life in Port Augusta.
Over a few successful days, participants gathered around the campfire at the Press Road art space to carve and create Miru (spear-throwers).
The Miru are looking great, with participants learning new skills, sharing knowledge, and enjoying the process together.
These special pieces will be showcased in an exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum next year, in what will be a proud moment for Kokatha culture and community.
If you’d like to be part of the project, the next Miru workshops, which are being run in conjunction with Ku Arts, will be held from Thursday 28 August to Saturday 30 August.
