BHP CEO MEETING WITH KAC CHAIRS
Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation Chairperson Carly Chamberlain and Vice Chairperson Nyani Thomas met with BHP Chief Executive Officer Mike Henry at Oak Dam on Thursday.
Carly Chamberlain gave a Welcome to Country and spoke about the Corporation’s hopes for an improved relationship with BHP that truly benefits all Kokatha People.
Mike Henry was in South Australia to visit Copper SA, which includes Olympic Dam, the newly acquired copper assets Carrapateena and Prominent Hill, and the exploration site at Oak Dam.
Carly Chamberlain said she felt the opportunity to advocate for the Kokatha community directly to the Chief Executive Officer of BHP is a step in the right direction in improving Kokatha’s relationship with BHP.
‘I am committed to creating a future for all Kokatha People where we feel our rights as the Native Title holders are properly acknowledged by any organisation wanting to operate on our Country,’ she said.
Carly and Nyani also met with BHP’s Chief Commercial Officer Vandita Pant and Chief Development Officer Johan van Jaarsveld.
