BOARD VISIT TO THE KOKATHA PASTORAL STATIONS
Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation and Kokatha Pastoral board members recently visited the Kokatha stations to inspect the newly acquired Kokatha herd and check out the upgrades to our cattle yards.
In attendance were Directors Leeanne Strangways, Paul Strangways, Carly Chamberlain, Chereena Amos and Aaron Thomas, joined by station staff Zak Johnson-Thomas, Shaqkodan Warren, Graham O’Toole, Kayanne Breuker-Reid, Deb Newton, Glen Norris, and Adam and Jolene Wagner.
Zak, Shaqy and Graham demonstrated how the new yards and Tru Test scales and NLIS reader—kindly supplied by Nutrien Port Augusta—are helping track the progress of the herd. The average weight gain of 23kg in just four weeks shows the cattle are thriving on Kokatha country.
Each steer was fitted with a Kokatha Pastoral ear tag before heading back out for a molasses treat.
There was one extra special moment on the day, when Graham O’Toole celebrated his 21st birthday doing what he loves, working cattle on Country. We even found the perfect ear tag to mark the occasion!
