Did you know that the Port Augusta based Australian Arid Lands Botanical gardens have lots of plants growing and for sale that are native to the Kokatha region?
On a recent trip there, Kym Chamberlain – KAC Community Support Worker, and Sarcha Taylor – KAC Admin Support, got to see what native plants they have growing there, and what equipment is needed to support their growth from seedlings in their Arid Smart nursery.
Some of the many beautifully scented plants that grow in our Region are:
Eremophila maculate, Acacia aneura, Eucalyptus scoalis and our most common ones that were all aware of are Quandong, Mulga, Sturts Desert Rose and Bush Banana, and even our wonderful bush medicine Plant that we use for our Cultural Healing.
