Our Kokatha Pastoral team recently joined forces with Arid Recovery and volunteers to assist with pitfall trapping at the Arid Recovery reserve on Kokatha Country.
A big shout out to our team – Allan Wallace, Zak Johnson-Thomas, Shaqkodan Warren, David Brady and Graham O’Toole – who helped with setting up and monitoring traps throughout the survey period.
The crew camped out under perfect skies, working side-by-side with the Arid Recovery team and contributing to important ecological research.
Pitfall trapping is a vital process in monitoring small mammals, reptiles, and invertebrates, providing a snapshot of ecosystem health and informing conservation efforts.

The data collected during these sessions will also be available to Kokatha and will help guide future planning for our Kokatha Ranger Program, supporting long-term care and management of Country.
