KOKATHA PASTORAL UPDATE

Kokatha Pastoral (KP) staff attended the recent SA Arid Lands (SAAL) Landscape Board Pastoral Field Day in Port Augusta, gaining valuable insights, meeting key stakeholders, and securing equipment for our growing operations.

Representing Kokatha at the event were Shaqkodan Warren, Graham O’Toole, Zak Johnson-Thomas, Allan Wallace, David Brady, Adam Wagner and Jolene Wagner.

The team was able to secure some important station equipment including a cattle crush, calf cradle, scale system, and NLIS wand, which will be crucial when KP purchases its own small herd later this year.

The KP crew also had the opportunity to connect with Dr Elisa Sparrow from SAAL, who will be working closely with Kokatha and Arid Recovery over the next two years on a project monitoring the recovery of western quolls and other threatened species on Kokatha Country.

This project will see Kokatha Rangers actively involved in monitoring species, managing data, and expanding conservation efforts through track monitoring, camera traps, and predator control measures.

The Field Day was also a fantastic chance for our team to network with key organisations such as Bush Heritage, Nutrien, and SAAL, strengthening partnerships that will support KP’s future growth.
