KOKATHA PASTORAL UPDATE - SNAKE AWARENESS TRAINING
Kokatha Pastoral workers Zak Johnson – Thomas and Shaqkodan Warren recently attended a Venomous Animals Awareness training session in Andamooka, delivered by SA Arid Lands.
This important training covered how to identify venomous animals, what to do if you encounter a snake, or other venomous creature, and the correct first aid response to bites and stings.
Participants also learned about the different types of venom, how they affect the human body, and the medical protocols used to treat bites.
As you’ll see in the photos, it wasn’t all theory! The session included close encounters with venomous snakes — safely managed, of course, with everyone wearing snake gaiters.
Great to see Kokatha team members continuing to build their skills to work safely and confidently on Country.
