AWARD WINNING POP PROGRAM
NAIDOC 2020 Organisation of the Year Award goes to Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation, POP Program
In 2020, as news of COVID-19 began to spread and fears about the wellbeing of our communities rose, 3 local groups got-together to create the Protecting Our People Program with Vital Resource Funding from BHP.
Port Augusta NAIDOC 2020 has acknowledged the outstanding work of this program by naming KAC, the POP Program as its Organisation of the Year!
The program was facilitated and administered by Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation and KAC’s Heritage Services Manager Glen Wingfield got together with Lavene Ngatokorua from Kuyani and Davenport communities, Linda Dare from Barngarla community and David Kelly, Principal Consultant from McMurtrie Company Marketing to develop a plan to support community members.
We know this project was a huge success so watch this great video to hear from some of the people who attended the camp, some who made it happen and learn about the many local groups who got involved.
Thanks to all involved and congratulations on being AWARD WINNERS!
