Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation would like to announce that Carly Chamberlain has been re-elected as Chairperson of the Board and Chereena Amos has been elected as Vice Chairperson.
Carly and Chereena were voted in by the Directors at last week’s April Board Meeting,
after former Chairperson Mel Reid resigned from the role.
Carly says she’s honoured and grateful that the Board has chosen her for the role. ‘It’s very humbling for me to know that the community and my fellow Directors trust me to be in the position,’ she says.
Carly has previously worked in several roles across the corporation, including as Charitable Trust Secretariat, Culture and Heritage Committee Secretariat and Heritage Services Trainee Manager.
It’s Carly’s second term as Chairperson. ‘I’m excited to be able to continue working alongside such a great Board and also to bring real and lasting benefits to the Kokatha community,’ she says.
Chereena was voted onto the Board at the AGM in November last year and says she’s enjoying being a voice for her community and helping to create a positive future for all Kokatha people.
‘It’s really important to me to listen to our community and represent them in the best possible way,’ she says. ‘I’m honoured to be chosen by the Directors to be Vice Chair and I’m looking forward to working alongside such a committed and passionate group.’
Chereena brings with her a wealth of experience, after working in the public sector for eight years as a trainee, administration officer, maintenance officer and project officer.
