Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation and
Kokatha Enterprise Directors have held a joint strategic planning session to
help set the future direction of the organisation.
The full day workshop is the first in a series of planning days, which will identify future priorities and start the process of developing a business plan.
Social Ventures Australia (SVA) has been engaged to support KAC and KE throughout this important process.
SVA focuses solely on social impact and works to increase organisations’ capacity to create positive change.
During the first planning session, Directors examined KAC and KE’s current structure and governance, and also considered what they wanted for Kokatha’s future.
Chairperson Carly Chamberlain said she was pleased with how well aligned all the Directors were on the future direction of KAC.
‘There were really strong themes about good governance, cultural practice, social programs, caring for our Elders and supporting our young people to achieve great things,’ she said. ‘We know our community has wanted us to start this process of strategic planning and we’re excited to be able deliver on it.’
KAC Chief Executive Dave Whitelaw said it was great to have the two boards working together to develop a pathway that will enable the Corporation to capitalise on the vast number of opportunities that are on offer.
‘It’s an honour to be part of a process that it going to be the start of a very exciting chapter in the story of Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation,’ he said.
The second workshop is scheduled for
next month, with a community consultation session planned for the middle of
this year.
